and do not buy the aritsan 700. Always. I would not wish this printer on my worst enemy. Especially at the price it's at. My first and very last ever epson product. It guzzles ink, extremely slow start up times, and constant clogged printheads and streaked, poor quality prints. Epson should be ashamed of themselves for putting a printer like this on the market. For what I"ve spent on ink in the last year of owning this thing I could have purchased a color laser printer, which, by the way, I am now shopping for.
I use a good quality paper and it's always grabbing more than one sheet at once, printing my page on 2 pages, which of course, forces you to make a reprint, using yet more ink. What's the point of 6 ink cartridges if they're all empty at the same time. Sure, wireless, only if you use a very low level of security for your wireless network, it doesn't support wpa2. Guaranteed.
This is a nice machine, the printing is great, you can load both regular paper and photo paper at the same time. The dvd try is hidden and comes out at a press of a button. There are so many other great features. Good buy.
I would not recommend this printer to a friend. OMG, I am not an IT person or an expert, but I set up a home network years ago and have maintained it for years. But the Epson, I still haven't been able to get it to work. First off, the ink is outrageously expensive. While I will say the print quality is good, and it is nice to be able to print to CD and DVD media, the printer is slow, the ink ridiculously expensive, and I haven't been able to get it to work on my network. I can't believe how many ink cartridges I've used. Wow, where do I begin. I've had Canon and HP printers connected to my home network no problem.
I don't know what the cost per page is, but I bet it is among the highest out there. Next, good luck setting this up on a network. I've updated the drivers, but no luck. Back to Canon for me.
You can't refill the cartridges and it's about $100 for a full set. After one year I have decided to scrap this printer. The cost of ink is the reason. No 3rd party cheaper cartridges are available. I'm going with a color laser and sorry Epson, it won't be one of yours.
We like this printer. Not only do the images look great, but the scanner is superb as well. Easy to use.The cons: ink. lots of it and expensive.
